These Boots Were Made for Walking

In Shoes on August 12, 2010 at 4:25 pm

Piperlime’s blog first introduced me to these fantastic over the knee boots…but what really gets me, is that I cannot stop thinking about them. These Frye Taylor Over the Knee Boots are the perfect blend of heeled femininity and ‘made for walking’ comfortable fashion. The buttery leather looks amazing new, but I know it will look 1000 times better when these bots are 3 years old. Weathered, edgy, reliable yet stylish and comfortable. The perfect combination for boots!!!

These boots are ideal fall colors (Black, Cognac, Fawn, Smoke, Curry, etc). The colors alone make you want to slip these hot boots on and have a campfire in the woods with your favorite ‘someone’! Invest in these boots and I am convinced they will keep giving season after season.

In Beauty on August 10, 2010 at 11:01 am

If your locks are looking a little lackluster, or time spent in the sun has taken them from soft to stiff, step inside any of participating salon for the brand-new Kerastase Chronologiste Treatment, designed to restore dull, lifeless hair to a much healthier, shinier, softer version of itself. Inspired in part by the structure and properties of caviar, the treatment’s essential ingredients resemble the culinary delight, comprised of shiny gray pearls packed with vitamins A and E, water from the Pacific Ocean, and fatty acids.

The is the finest haircare treatment ever created by Kérastase and this is a treatment that can be applied in salon or at home! The at home treatment is very simple and goes something like this:

After shampooing with the appropriate bain, add the pearls to the Chronologiste bowl and blend smoothly into the cream using the spatula. On towel-dried hair, part the hair, apply and massage the treatment section by section to the scalp, length and ends. Leave on for 5 to 10 minutes, then add a small amount of water to create a lather and massage through the hair. Rinse thoroughly, so that all product is rinsed out completely. Recommended to be applied once a week as a treatment booster in addition to your current regimen.

Adding a little more flutter to your eyes can add a whole new look to you. MAC Cosmetics makes perfect eyelashes that will blend in with your natural set or stand out with rhinestones. Offering 48 different types of false eyelashes, MAC really gives you a buffet of eye decoration to feast on.

False eyelashes will typically last 8 – 12 hours (just don’t tug at them) and you apply them with a safe adhesive along your lash line. Watch this amazing video by Sephora that shows you how to apply them! How to Apply False Eyelashes

Purrfect Ponytail

In Fashion on August 4, 2010 at 3:51 pm

Eva Mendes looks fab with her super high, curly ponytail adorned with a blinged out broach. Miss Mendes was rocking retro feeling/modern edge pony at the Premiere for The Other Guys in NY. The ponytail’s tumbling wave is impossibly sexy; the sparkly barrette adds polish and shine. This look really shows us that ponytails are not just for “nights in” but rather they can be rocked any place we go!

Here’s how to create the Perfect High Ponytail:

1. Lift one section of hair. Back-comb or tease your hair. Repeat until you have completed all sections of your hair. After the back-comb is done, brush the outer layer of the hair, without removing the additional volume. Throw your hair in hot curlers for 20 minutes (for the curly look).

2. Bring your hair toward the location that you want the ponytail to sit on your head. Pull all the hair with the hairbrush to the location. You can use the top, side or back of the head for the ponytail hairstyle location.

3. Spray a small amount of hairspray on the outside of your hair, while holding the hair secure for the ponytail hairstyle. This will get rid of any fly-away pieces of hair to hold them down onto the head

4. Place the elastic band around your wrist. Grab the elastic band and pull the ponytail hair through the elastic. Secure the ponytail hairstyle with the elastic. Pull the hair tight.

5. Take a small piece of hair from the underneath side of the ponytail. Wrap the hair around the elastic band. Use bobby pins to secure the piece and hide the hair tip behind the ponytail hairstyle. Lightly spray the wrapped hair.

Instant Youth

In Fashion on August 2, 2010 at 4:44 pm

Ever since I turned the corner on 25, I started thinking about how I look and what effects I was having on my skin (hello pulling at my eyes to put on eyeliner). I realized that my days of carefree skincare were over if I didn’t want to look like an old leather baseball glove when I hit in my twilight years.

This quest for youth enhancing products led me to find Cream Blush. Cream Blush leaves a soft, silky hue to your cheeks without the dreaded streaky blush. We should always avoid the temptation to jack up the color of our blush to look younger. “Instead of using bright pigments to play up features, women are better off playing with texture as they age” says makeup artist Brigitte Reiss-Andersen.

To create an ideal canvas for your cream blush, start with clean, moisturized skin. Spot treat red spots and circles with concealer, then dag cream blush on the apples of your cheeks and rub thoroughly in. Add a hint of shine (dash of shimmery powder or clear silicon to the apples of your cheeks). Now you’ve got yourself a fresh glow that doesn’t scream drag queen.
