Ombre Hair

In Beauty on March 11, 2010 at 12:52 pm

Rachel Bilson is rocking a very trendy hairstyle right now (and one of my favorite words) Ombre Hair! Bilson’s once richly brunette head has turned from bombshell brown, to blonde tips before our eyes. Despite this hair style looking like inverse roots, it actually has become a popular way to color your hair.

How to Get this Look:
If you want to go for natural tones, then just lighten your mid-length and ends at least 3 shades lighter than your base. Then go back to your last 2-3 inches of hair and lighten again. If you want to make it a funky color, have your hair professionally bleached and tone with any desired pure pigment shade such as a Manic Panic Color. Apply shade at the bottom 2-3 inches and let process. Then dilute the remaining color with water and using your fingers work it into the mid-shaft.

Should You Rock this Look?
Teens and young fashionistas are perfect for this! It is also great for anyone in the arts/music industry. Everyone else….not for you.

Pop Art Polish

Essie is bringing us into Spring 2010 with a pop of pastel love! According to Essie, the intelligence behind their pastel colored nail color line is that elegance is alive and well and a lot sexier on the Spring 2010 runways. Layers of super-thin fabrics reveal the body behind artful geometric ‘windows.’ Skirt silhouettes are fuller, flirtier. Sheer overlays are everywhere. And the new black is color. Unending shades of lilac, rose, cerise, crimson, and coral stand alone, or join the print and pattern party in monet-like flowers, Abstracts and Pop Art graphics. Proving if there’s an art to fashion, we definitely see it this spring.

Buy It: Essie
Cost: $17.00 – $48.00

Oscar Fashion

Zoe Saldana looks mermaid-meets-showgirl-lishess in this purple Givency confection! The 31-year old Avatar star pulled out all of the stops with this sequined bodice and explosion of purple on the bottom. Her outfit actually oozes Pandora (alien world in Avatar)…nice tie in Zoe!

Her makeup and hair are spot on too! Clean looking cosmetics (accenting her naturally amazing bone structure) and simply pulled back hair allow the dress to scream to be Oscar winner!!!

Idol Fashion

Katelyn Epperly not only rocked it out on American Idol last night (belting out The Scientist by coldplay) but her outfit was also to die for! Her pink foiled bubble skirt and white, ruffled off the shoulder top looked classy, fun and easy to wear! I have searched high and low to re-create this look…and here’s what I’ve found:

Off the Shoulder Top: A soft chiffon literally doing loops down the cascade of this one shoulder top. Sheer, ribbon-like chiffon falls from the solo shoulder.
Buy It: Bebe
Cost: $49.00

Bubble Skirt: Pale pink bubble tier skirt with black waistband and exposed zip.
Buy It: TopShop
Cost: $65.00
