Embracing Lace

Lace Dress

Lace is no longer just for our intimate apparel. Fashion designers and fashionistas everywhere are adding lace to their daily wear and spicing up their style. Lace heels, leggings, shirts, fingerless gloves and dresses are just some of the areas where lace is showing. Alexander McQueen is even including lace in his Resort Wear 2010 collection (seen on Drew Barrymore at the Whip It Premiere)!

Lace fashion is tricky by design. Too much and your outfit is suddenly see through…lace in worn the wrong way warps you back to the Desperately Seeking Susan days. Remember when wearing trendy textiles, such as lace, to pair the fashion statement with opposing fabrics or styles. Too much of one look is never a good thing.

Lace leggings pair well with a simple over-sized t-shirt or cardigan and booties; lace tops pair best with tailored trousers or a pencil or tiered ruffle skirt; lace camisoles even go great with shredded denim!
