Knit Hats

Knit Hats are popping up everywhere this autumn; celebs like Katie Holmes to Fergie are rocking this bohemian-chic look and keeping their heads toasty.

Slouchy Knit Hats to Cable Berets come with sequins, studs, with pom-poms and in a variety of fabrics (cashmere, wool, cotton and mohair)…so your options are plenty.
This style is best for those with a bob like Rihanna’s or Cameron Diaz’s long layers as this style helps if you have hair framing your face. Wear this look as an accessory rather than a cover up.

Check out my favorite knit berets:

GAP - Knit Beret

Halloween Makeup

It’s no secret that on Halloween, men, women, and children cake on the makeup. Creating ghoulish or glamorous faces is all part of the fun anyway! So after the festivities are over, the candy bags are full, and the costumes are stored away….how do you get that makeup off? A lot of Halloween makeup kits (sold at drugstores) are similar to Stage Makeup; heavy white creams, oil laden eye liners, and sticky red palettes are all toxic to the skin (if left on too long) and are a guarantee for clogged pores.

Here are some of the Best Cleansers and Makeup Removers on the Market (based on Allure’s Master Beauty List)

Casually Chic in Cardigans

Cardigans

If comfort is currency in fashion, I’d be flat broke. Not often enough are the current fashion trends soft, comfortable, flattering and in style. Alas, the fashion gods are smiling down upon us and have deemed the Cardigan back in vogue!

A partially-buttoned sweater combined with equally soft pieces can look effortlessly casual. But don’t overdo the layers or the prep appeal. Not only does casual suddenly look too strict but you’re likely to start peeling off pieces in most overheated interiors. You can tailor your cardigan with a thin studded belt or rock the boyfriend cardigan over skinny jeans for the prep school look. Leave the single string of pearls at home though…too much prep isn’t good for your social life.

Stretch Leather Mini Skirt

There are days when I want to throw aside my cardigans and pearl earrings and wear something a bit edgier; to wear an outfit that fits my alter ego (somewhere in between Sasha Fierce and Lara Croft) and allows me to momentarily escape from corporate America. On occasion, my black leather biker jacket does the trick but lately, I have been seriously crushing on Leather Mini Skirts. Flaunting your great gams is so in.

Leather (or Faux Leather) is always a staple in your Fall wardrobe and what better time to slip into a fashion forward leather mini skirt, pair it with a frilly white blouse, and knock some serious socks off! You can tone down the hard core nature of a leather mini skirt by coupling it with flats or booties, wearing it over leggings, or donning a soft, feminine fabric shirt. Just remember to choose textiles that are the opposite with leather to keep this look fresh and in style. No one wants to look like a Hell’s Angels gang member.

With the fear of Swine Flu lurking on every doorknob and escalator railing, the need for sanitizing wipes, sprays, and gels is even more important. Dissolving Travel Toiletries are the next big thing in portable cleanliness.

Each of these Travel Toiletries is a marvel of modern science. Open a pack, remove one of the 50 sheets, and add water. It dissolves into a cleaning product, which you then can use as you are already (hopefully) accustomed. In our experience, 3-4 sheets of shampoo will clean a moderate head of hair. As for the body wash, it will depend on the size of the body you are cleaning, naturally. These are perfect to keep in your desk, your purse, your man bag, your carry-on luggage – everywhere you might encounter unwanted grime. Now if we could only purge that dirty mind of yours . . . .

Claro Acne Clearing Device

At one point or another, we all struggle with acne (even the word is ugly) and we have an arsenal of lotions, potions and pills to make our skin newborn clear and rid ourselves of the unsightly skin condition. From my experience, most lotions and miracle cures for acne seem to be too good to be true. Celebrity endorsements and bleached clothing (from the fabric unfriendly benzyl peroxide) doesn’t make up for the lack of effectiveness.

Devices seem to be the new wave of innovations for treating blemished skin but the latest invention is IPL (intense pulsed light) technology…sometimes called photorejuvenation or photofacial. This is the same technology that populates dermatologists offices worldwide and is a skin treatment which is commonly used to improve a wide range of skin problems including: sun damage, wrinkles, stretch marks, and age spots. IPL in-office treatments are very expensive and require multiple visits to do the job.

Claro Acne Clearing Device is the latest and greatest at home acne treatment that claims to use a powerful combination of heat and light to treat mild to moderate acne quickly and naturally. It’s painless, fast and kills up to 94.8% of acne bacteria after just one treatment. Also, no side effects…which is a major concern of mine when operating an at-home laser. Claro delivers a series of pulses in six seconds that safely penetrate the skin to target the cause of acne.

Get your very own acne IPL device and zap your way back to clearer skin!

Eleni's All Made Up Cookies

I’m a sucker for all things sweet. Cookies, candies, cakes, even sugar flavored lip gloss. I am especially drawn to sweets that are fashioned after adorable items…such as makeup! Eleni’s Cookie Company has created one of the most adorable cookie displays I have ever seen and her cookies are not only absolutely gorgeous, but have fabulous flavor as well.

The history on Eleni’s is of an amazing woman who started her cookie company in 1997 after tiring of the corporate world. She started baking her mother Jeanie’s oatmeal-raisin cookies and selling them out of her apartment. She now boasts 40 employees and 7000 customers per month. She bakes a whopping half million cookies per year and averages about 500 pounds of dough per week. Her best selling cookie is the Chocolate Chip Crisp cookie, and I don’t doubt it. But it’s also rumored that an all time favorite of her cookies is the Sassy Ginger cookie.

Eleni’s All Made Up Cookie set features a dozen delightful cookies for the deserving diva. These hand-iced sugar favorites include mascara, eye shadow, hair dryer, lipstick, nail polish, eyelashes. Eleni’s also has more seasonal cookie sets, such as her Halloween Cookie Collection!

New Moon Just Biten Staining Balm

I admit, I was a skeptic at first. Vampires, wolves, and occult-themed romance stories weren’t really my cup of tea. It was only after a 12 hour flight back from London that I finally watched the movie,Twilight, and to my astonishment, was hooked. There is something so alluring and romantic about the Twilight Saga that has me wishing I could meet a vampire of my very own (the twin of Robert Pattinson perhaps?)

The Twilight Saga has erupted into a Harry Potter phenomenon and teenage girls (and women) everywhere are swooning over the latest installment of the series, New Moon (in theaters 11/20/09). Swooning to the point where Nordstrom (retail juggernaut) has paired with Summit Entertainment to create a line of New Moon Cosmetics and apparel. The line consists of “Team Edward” t-shirts, life size cut outs of Robert Pattinson, and a cosmetic line named “Luna Twilight”. DuWop’s Lip Venom has even joined the ranks and created a Luna Twilight DuWop Lip Venom.

The Luna Twilight cosmetic line ranges from $16.00 to $34.00 and you can get everything from body glow to “Just Bitten” lip stain.

Urban Decay’s 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil is the perfect, long wearing eyeliner for fall this season! If it’s wedding proof (misty eyes and all-night dancing) then you know its good!

This never-before-seen formula stays soft and creamy for blending (about 30 seconds), then dries down to a long-lasting finish that WILL NOT budge. Even though my workout schedule is as often as the lunar cycle, I find it necessary to always shop for yoga pants, sports bras, and other fun gym gear. About a year ago, I stumbled upon the most amazing workout pants ever. Bold statement, I know. My common complaints about work out pants is that they aren’t flattering, they are a crappy cotton material that stretches out easily and theres always drawstrings or loose waistbands that have me pulling up my pants on the treadmill. Enter Lululemon.

Lululemon Athletica designs a genius array of workout apparel options and yoga focused work out products. Their pants are omg-amazing. This Vancouver based company has perfected how a yoga pant should fit; the pants are customized to your body, tailored for length, are made of this amazing dry-fit type material that wicks sweat away from your body. Oh and did I mention they make your butt look amazing?! Every body-type is flattered in their pants. Seriously.

Low rise, high rise, slim leg, wide leg, reversible: they’ve got ‘em all. They make their pants in a variety of fabrics to suit every activity from warm up to cool down. High in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, it is believed to help all sorts of skin conditions: dry skin, acne, psoriasis, eczema, wrinkles. Moroccans slather it on their skin, hair, nails and even their babies. They eat it, too — drizzling it over salads and couscous, or using it to make amlou, a tahinilike spread of the oil, almonds and honey. Argan Oil is not only a “super food” for the skin and hair but for the whole body. Having twice as much Vitamin E as olive oil including vital antioxidants, Argan Oil plays a major role in a healthy diet and is commonly used in traditional Moroccan recipes.

Even better than this miracle oil is the positive gender and socio-economic effects Argan Oil has on it’s endemic growing region. Produced exclusively from the nuts of the Argan tree in the semi-desert region of Morocco, the extraction of the Argan Oil is a labor-intensive process that has been perfected by the women native to southwest Morocco. In 2002, the Moroccan government helped establish female cooperatives to manufacture Argan Oil. These programs provide women of rural Morocco with a steady income, a fair wage, good working conditions, as well as literacy and other education classes. Perhaps most importantly, the co-ops give women a keen sense of empowerment in this traditionally male-dominated society. These programs also help protect the Argan forests’ limited supply of trees. The co-ops are dedicated to responsible harvesting practices and reforestation projects, which – along with environmental protection policies – aid in the preservation of the Argan forests and women’s jobs.

Rihanna Chanel 2010 Spring Show

Rihanna gives us a great example of how to dress up a simple outfit with accessories with her simple tweed skirt and white bustier at the Chanel Spring 2010 Fashion Show in Paris. And if it’s chic enough to wear to Chanel, you know it will work almost anywhere.

Rihanna layers tons of pearl and beaded necklaces to pretty much alter the neckline of her strapless top into a halter, plus she plays with silhouette by keeping them off-center. Look for white, silver and black necklaces if you’re inspired by Rihanna and want to keep in Chanel chic, or switch it up and go for silver and gold or whatever suits your style.

Clinique Lip Smoothie

The yummiest cocktail I’ve encountered this month is one made especially for our lips, not our tummies (or livers). The Clinique Vitamin C Lip Smoothie is a revolutionary product that includes shea butter to moisturize, key antioxidants, açai berry and pomegranate to protect and vitamin C to improve the look and feel of lips, which are subjected to lines and wrinkles over time. There are 10 gorgeous colors to choose from, each as juicy as the next.

The collection consists of eight juicy shades ranging from opaque to shimmery: Fig-a-licious, Raisin the Bar, Mango-thon, Pink Me Up, Rhubarbie, Goodness Grapecious, Nude-tritious and Absolute Açaí. Even the names are yummy!

Gossip Girl Capelet

The Capelet is a great piece for ‘pre-coat’ or California weather–as a capelet over both shoulders, or just over one shoulder for an asymmetrical look. Then when it gets really cold (aka Californians take a vacay to a cold weather climate), you can wear it as a cowl scarf with your winter coat.

The Capelet is such a romantic, posh, and Euro chic addition to any outfit. They’re a great layering piece and can add texture, a sleek sophistication, and warmth. Remember not to get a capelet (or cape) that is too long for your frame; you’ll end up looking like a superhero (or villain).

Lauren Hutton Bamboo Brush Set

Being beauty hordes ourselves, we know that having a counter full of makeup means two things: We need to become more space efficient, and we need to stay clean—fingers can carry a lot of bacteria which we then transfer to our precious products. That’s where the Lauren Hutton Bamboo Brush Set comes in handy. We trust the legendary supermodel would know even better than we do, and her double-ended, eco-friendly brushes are of amazing quality at affordable price.

Bamboo is so very eco-friendly chic! Bamboo’s environmental benefits arise largely out of its ability to grow and spread quickly — in some cases three to four feet per day — without the need for fertilizers, pesticides or much water. Way to go eco-chic bamboo brush set!

One Shoulder 2

With roots to the toga, asymmetrical looks have come a long way and the One-Shoulder look is a versatile, edgy trend that is showing up coast to coast. This refreshing departure from the strapless styles leaves more to the imagination by covering more skin and drawing upward focus to the face.

For evening, you can’t go wrong sporting a one-shouldered Grecian gown; or you can play into the Kelly Kapowski era and rock 80’s nostalgia with a color-popping mini dress. For a more girly look, choose a style with a bow, braid or feather or adorn your outfit with a long, drapey necklace!

No Foundation Foundation

Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation

Foundation-phobes, meet your match. Enter, Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation, the first advanced anti-aging translucent finishing product designed to allow the natural health and glow of skin to shine through, while providing SPF 30 sun protection. It corrects skin undertones, boost skin’s moisture level, has a dewy finish, and is infused with ingredients to help firm skin and diminish lines over time. A dose of specially treated pigments, blended with light diffusing mica, instantly soften the look of lines, wrinkles, and pores, creating a flawlessly radiant look. No, we can’t believe it either.

Surprisingly, NY Mag tested this miracle foundation on a panel of testers and found that the foundation blended with everyone’s skin, and coverage was subtle and natural looking. A couple of testers found it a tad bit greasy, while (strangely) the one tester with oily skin didn’t find it greasy in the least bit.

Ojon Daily Intensive Shine Treatment

Ojon Daily Intensive Shine Treatment is simply amazing. This lightweight, non-greasy hair shine serum is my go-to frizz smoother because it makes my hair so smooth, shiny and silky feeling. It also has this addictive, sweet nutty fragrance that smells so yummy. The pump bottle does have some odd looking brown beads at the bottom but apparently the secret to Ojon products are their “microspheres” and an “exotic oil extracted from the tropical Ojon tree”. Exotic oil microspheres? They work, so I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

Created to instantly bring life back to dull and damaged hair, this smoothing serum contains light polymers that create an ultra-smooth effect while blow-drying, and create frizz-free curls when drying naturally. Plant derived conditioning agents fight the effects of humidity, while vitamins A and E leave hair soft and nourished. Formulated with 100% pure Ojon oil, supported by clinical studies to fortify, restore and nourish damaged hair.

CL Animal Print Boots

We all heard that animal prints are back in vogue this fall in a big way. Pink Leopard prints, cheetah print cardigans and now, Zebra Print Christian Louboutin Boots.

Christian Louboutin is already an unhealthy obsession of mine, but when I laid eyes on his new Fall 2009 line of animal print stilettos and boots, my heart literally jumped out of my chest. These boots are so hot, they’re practically on fire. Gold/black zebra print haircalf. Hidden platform. Crescent toe. Signature red sole. 4 7/10″ covered stiletto heels. Be still my heart. The only hindrance is that they are very, very expensive. wistful sigh

If you are feeling a little wild and planning on not eating for 6 months, rock these hot boots.
