Bonjour Beret

Knit Hats

Knit Hats are popping up everywhere this autumn; celebs like Katie Holmes to Fergie are rocking this bohemian-chic look and keeping their heads toasty.

Slouchy Knit Hats to Cable Berets come with sequins, studs, with pom-poms and in a variety of fabrics (cashmere, wool, cotton and mohair)…so your options are plenty.
This style is best for those with a bob like Rihanna’s or Cameron Diaz’s long layers as this style helps if you have hair framing your face. Wear this look as an accessory rather than a cover up.

Check out my favorite knit berets:

Forever21Wide Cable Beret
Cost: $5.50

Michael Kors- Knit Hat
Cost: $65.00

GAP - Knit Beret
Cost: $19.50

Portolano - Studded Cashmere Beret
Cost: $98.00

Hurley Benny Beret (as seen on Katie Holmes)
Cost: $26.00

Washing Off Halloween

Halloween Makeup

It’s no secret that on Halloween, men, women, and children cake on the makeup. Creating ghoulish or glamorous faces is all part of the fun anyway! So after the festivities are over, the candy bags are full, and the costumes are stored away….how do you get that makeup off? A lot of Halloween makeup kits (sold at drugstores) are similar to Stage Makeup; heavy white creams, oil laden eye liners, and sticky red palettes are all toxic to the skin (if left on too long) and are a guarantee for clogged pores.

Here are some of the Best Cleansers and Makeup Removers on the Market (based on Allure’s Master Beauty List)

Best Cleanser (Normal Skin)- Aveeno Positively Radiant Makeup Removing Cleanser

Best Eye Makeup Remover- Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover

Belts

Belts are the perfect way to introduce a chic pop of color, texture or bling to any outfit; this waist-wringing item is one of few accessories that can take any outfit up a notch, from fine to fantastic.

If you want to stand out, get creative and fashion yourself a belt out of unconventional materials. Belts can be made out of a variety of innovative fabrics and closures. Mix it up by swapping buckles for bows, hooks and snaps, and trade the usual leather wrap-around for stretchy elastics, menswear-inspired cummerbunds, kimono-inspired silky obi sashes, and bands of fabric.

Straighten Out

Straight Hair

Straight, shiny hair has always been a coveted style for me. I have serums, shampoos, hair masks, and flat irons that help me create this sleek and serious look. The Best Flat Iron I have found (and am now a religious user of) is the Sedu Pro Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron. This flat iron has stood the test of time and allows me to straighten my hair every day with just the right amount of heat.

Rated the Best Hair Straightener on the market and preferred by top hair stylists around the world, the Sedu flat iron straightens, smoothes and tames frizzy or rebellious hair for long-lasting results. Sedu’s patented ultra-smooth ceramic/tourmaline plates guarantee smooth straightening motion without pulling or breaking of hair. The adjustable temperature ranges from 210 – 410 Degrees Fahrenheit and reaches the target tempature in 25 seconds.

The Sedu Pro Ionic Flat Iron has over 4,352 reviews on Folica.com and is considered the #1 Flat Iron on the site. I can attest to these raving reviews, this product is fabulous!

Casually Chic in Cardigans

Cardigans

If comfort is currency in fashion, I’d be flat broke. Not often enough are the current fashion trends soft, comfortable, flattering and in style. Alas, the fashion gods are smiling down upon us and have deemed the Cardigan back in vogue!

A partially-buttoned sweater combined with equally soft pieces can look effortlessly casual. But don’t overdo the layers or the prep appeal. Not only does casual suddenly look too strict but you’re likely to start peeling off pieces in most overheated interiors. You can tailor your cardigan with a thin studded belt or rock the boyfriend cardigan over skinny jeans for the prep school look. Leave the single string of pearls at home though…too much prep isn’t good for your social life.

Check out these prep school worthy styles:

Banana Republic Boyfriend Cardigan
Cost: $79.50

Top Shop Military Cardigan
Cost: $120.00

J Crew Merino Micro-sequin Cardigan
Cost: $198.00

Dark Harts Rugby Stripped Cardigan
Cost: $48.00

Little Leather Mini

Stretch Leather Mini Skirt

There are days when I want to throw aside my cardigans and pearl earrings and wear something a bit edgier; to wear an outfit that fits my alter ego (somewhere in between Sasha Fierce and Lara Croft) and allows me to momentarily escape from corporate America. On occasion, my black leather biker jacket does the trick but lately, I have been seriously crushing on Leather Mini Skirts. Flaunting your great gams is so in.

Leather (or Faux Leather) is always a staple in your Fall wardrobe and what better time to slip into a fashion forward leather mini skirt, pair it with a frilly white blouse, and knock some serious socks off! You can tone down the hard core nature of a leather mini skirt by coupling it with flats or booties, wearing it over leggings, or donning a soft, feminine fabric shirt. Just remember to choose textiles that are the opposite with leather to keep this look fresh and in style. No one wants to look like a Hell’s Angels gang member.

Here are a some of my favorite Little Leather Mini Skirts:

Silence & Noise Tiered Faux Leather Mini Skirt
Cost: $78.00

Urban Renewal Leather Mini Skirt (Blue, Brown, Black, Pink and Red)
Cost: $58.00

Express Leather Mini Pencil Skirt
Cost: $69.50

Gianni Bini“Liz” Leather Skirt
Cost: $198.00

There are so many options out there to don our toes in luxurious flat shoes and still feel show-stopping chic.

A great benefit to blinged out flat shoes is that they transition from day to night seamlessly! Pair your ballet flats with skinny jeans or leggings to ensure proper admiration.
