Who knew a simple, textured braid would be the hit of the red carpet?? Braids warp me back to the 2nd grade where girls would form braid-trains and French braid each others hair during recess. I never quite figured out how to create the perfect French braid…but alas, I digress.
Braids are back. Big Time. Blake Lively looked mermaid-chic on the red carpet of this years Emmy Awards. This messy, yet polished look drew attention to her beautiful face and gave her a retro, yet up to date look.
Frederic Fekkai stylist Renato Campora is sharing all the details of the look:
-Apply mousse to wet hair (Campora used Fekkai Coiff Strong Hold Volume Mousse)
Blow-dry hair smooth with a flat paddle brush
-Apply styling gel to hold in the sleekness (Campora used Fekkai Coiff Extra Control Styling Gel)
-Tease hair at the crown and pull into a high ponytail
-Clip in a few hair extensions to the ponytail for dramatic length, and use one to wrap around and cover the elastic
-Braid the ponytail and sexure the ends with a clear elastic
-Smooth over the top with a finishing cream (Campora used Fekai Coiff Magnifique Ultra-Light Finishing Crème)
