Saturday Night Sequin

In Fashion on September 14, 2009 at 3:19 pm

Kristin Cavallari Sequin Dress

Disco Fever is in full effect these days…sequins, bold – jewel toned colors, skinny leggings, man-robes (boyfriend inspired wardrobes). I’m loving it all!

Kristen Cavalarri looks like she stepped directly out of a Saturday night fever disco tech and onto the VMA red carpet. This short, silver sequin mini-dress and platform black pumps won rave reviews from onlookers and fashion publishers. Kristen accessorized the look perfectly with minimalist pony tail, smoky eyes (with a light colored lip) and understated grey earrings. She glittered in a vintage (non-label) dress, YSL pumps and Sutra earrings.

Kristen’s fashion performance was top notch in an otherwise infamous evening filled with behavioral debacles (boo Kanye).

Re-create this look with these saucy sequin numbers:

Top Shop Knitted Sequin Dress – Cost $160

Arden B Sequin Leopard Tube Tunic- Cost $40

Nordstrom Patra Sequin Shift Dress – Cost $89

Alice & Olivia Magenta Sequin Scoop Tank Dress – Cost $318

Bye Bye Redness

mineral solutions

A rosy glow is desired, red and painful cheeks are not. With Rosacea and redness affecting over 30% of women, everyone is trying to battle the red. There have been a ton of products out that there that claim to do just that, but I was especially excited about Clinique’s New Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder: a mineral solution that reduces redness on contact.

The powder is very similar in consistency to mineral makeup and can be worn by itself, with mineral makeup or even on top of liquid foundation! It does provide coverage for all skin types so could be all you need. I love that it is oil-free, talc-free and comes with an anti-bacterial brush. A great feature of the brush is that it is retractable and can be doused with powder for later use.

The Instant Relief Mineral Powder is getting great reviews and is lab tested for results. Hopefully it will help a lot of women stop feeling blue about being red.

Cost: $32.50 at www.clinique.com

Birds of a Feather

Exotic Spot Feather Headband - Forever21

Feathers are lending a touch of whimsical air to fall fashion this year…and this is not new news. Feathers, leaves, and braided bands have been showing up on celebrities heads and dangling from their ears for several seasons now. This nymph-like look has begun to take a flapper era feel to it…without adopting a feather boa (thankfully) and stores everywhere are carrying feathered headbands to orchid hair clips embellished with jewels.

We saw this trend take root in the first Sex in the City movie when SJP wore a peacock feather (bird) on her wedding day…and since then, the feathered fashion look has soared in popularity. ;)

Put a feather in it with these darling pieces:

Forever 21 Exotic Feathered Headband – Cost: $4.80

Urban Outfitter Ribbon Wrapped Feather Head Piece – Cost $24

Nordstrom Tasha ‘Feathered Friend’ Headband – Cost: $38
