Morroccanoil

There has been so much buzz about the MOROCCANOIL products lately. They are really indulgent and give great manageability and shine to all hair types. Although MOROCCANOIL is an oil treatment, it will not make your hair greasy. Since healthy hair needs a fine balance of natural oils and vitamins, Moroccan Oil provides these much needed nutrients to make hair smoother and easier to manage without making the hair oily. From their original oils to shampoo and masques- they really have expanded the line. All products have a delicious almond fragrance too.

Another great reason to indulge in their products is that MOROCCANOIL‘s Argan oil is harvested under a free trade program which provides substantial socio-economic support to thousands of families in the Souss-Massa region of Morocco. Revenue from this project provides income to families and helps improve the working conditions of rural women.

Cost: $29+

Grass Charging Station

If you’re like me, you probably consider your blackberry or iPhone part of your daily attire. Without it…we are literally naked. And what comes from this wireless obsession is ironically, wires. I have chargers strung over every possible part of my house…just to ensure I never run out of juice for my phone(s) and am forever connected.

Here is a really cute, out-of-the-box(wires) way to keep your electonics juiced up and your countertops wire free! Think Jungle!

Death to the Polaroid

In Electronics on August 21, 2009 at 3:41 pm

Urban Outfitters Polaroids

For those of you who don’t know anything about The Impossible Project (I had no clue), this organization basically has set is sights on re-inventing the polariod analog product offering into a global digital manufacturer. Basically, Polaroid stopped production on the classic “instant” film in 2008, and former Polaroid employees are trying in vein to save the iconic camera.

The Impossible Project acquired the last of Polaroid’s instant film and camera kits and is going to sell them via Urban Outfitters, starting today, August 21st, 2009. Of course, it’s deadstock and very limited edition, and you’ll have to go to one of the physical stores to get the film or kits.

Want a piece of history? Go to the nearest Urban Outfitters and scoop up the last remaining polaroid film inserts on earth!

BTW- This means no more taking polaroids of your shoes and stapling the polaroid to the shoe box in your closet. OR taking polaroids of yourfits to see how they look. Gasp I guess that’s what digi cameras are for….

Cost: Probably not that much…but priceless for your grandkids to have fun with!

Crinkle Me Happy

Sienna Miller Sept Issue Premiere

Sienna Miller once again WOWed us and dazzled the red carpet at the NYC premiere of “September Issue” in a pale blue crinkle dress by Thakoon. Not only was the leg baring strapless dress a seemingly breathe of fresh air (compared to her sequin heavy ensemble from the G.I. Joe premiere), she ties the outfit together perfectly with a pair of gold Jimmy Choo Sandels.

Other Celebrities who have been spotted rocking the Crinkled Taffeta are Jennifer Aniston wearing a crushed metallic gold confection (by Prada) and Rumer Willis in a metallic silver, curve hugging, crinkled dress (by Karen Millen)!

One more great thing about Thakoon (the pale blue crinkle dress designer) is that come November 2009, Thakoon will be in Target Stores internationally. Christmas has come early this year!!

Here are our High-Lo Options to rock this look:

Lo Cost Option – Cost: $36.99

Shredded Jeans

Denim is in. Loose denim, skinny denim, flare denim and Shredded Denim(again)! The not-so-new look, which first boomed in the late 1980s and then again during the grunge phase in early 90′s, seems to have made quite the comeback. Rapper Eve, made a return to the spotlight last week serving major attitude in a dark sexy pair with a leather vest. Also Rihanna, Beyonce, Cassie, Ashanti, Kim Kardashian and many other stylish starlets have been captured more than once wearing a pair.

Kardashian is a particular fan of the growing ripped jean trend, stating on her official website, “Right now, ripped jeans are my absolute favorite thing!” she writes. “I have replaced my leggings look with a ripped jean look!”.

Now we can all look like we’ve been cuddling with a weed wacker…here’s our favorite picks:

This summer, long, lightweight scarves are a must-have item. You can’t walk down a popular, shop lined street without seeing a cute girl in jeans, a tank and an adorable scarf tying it all together.

I know summer is dwindling to a close- but hey, these lightweight and versatile pieces can be worn just about all year. It is definitely not too late to embrace this trend.

Celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Jessica Alba and Hillary Duff have been sporting simple yet girly scarves from designers like Love Quotes, Revolve Clothing and Fluxus.

Love Me Forever

cartier_love_bracelet

In the Summer of 1969 a young Cartier staff designer created a remarkable new item that was to become one of the most famous status symbols of our age.

The designer was the late Aldo Cipullo…and the item was the Cartier “Love Bracelet”. I may or may not have been obsessed with the bracelet since childhood, but I am not the only one! The bracelet became a must have for celebs, socialites and us everyday gals alike.

The bracelet comes with a special bolts that can only be opened with an acompanying “screw driver”. So only the person who gave you the bracelet can unlock it and your heart (so cheesy but beyond adorable!)

I also love that Cartier set an unprecedented purchasing policy when this bracelet was released: customer were not allowed to by a “Love Bracelet” for themselves! The Cartier regulation firmly said that no one was permitted to purchase one for their own wrist. This totally added to the bracelet’s allure for many women around the world.

In the last few years, Cartier has teamed up with celebrities to create the LOVECHARITY bracelet. $200 of each sale will go directly to the charity of the their choice. They chose silk bands to signify the charity, a few include:

  • Rosario Dawson: Youth AIDS, Red Bracelet
  • Salma Hayek: The Salma Hayek Foundation, White Bracelet
  • Scarlett Johansson: USA Harvest, Baby Pink Bracelet
  • Sarah Jessica Parker: UNICEF, Blue Bracele
  • Liv Tyler: The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Deep Pink Bracelet

I truly love this idea and I think the charity bracelets are just as desirable and help a great cause. I think indulging in some jewelry and being charitable is truly beautiful.

Cost for LOVE bracelet: $3000+

Cost for LOVECHARITY bracelet: $300-$950

One for the Road

YSL Roady

The new It bag this fall is Yves saint Laurent’s Roady Bag. Now, I consider myself somewhat of a fashion voyeur. I love to look, want, obsess over the latest and greatest it items without always buying these tasty morsels. And if my internal fashion compass is steering me in the right direction, I don’t think I am in love with this bag…or shelling out hard cash for it either.

Yes, who doesn’t love a great, slouchy leather name-brand bag? I certainly have my fair share of oversized, “carry everything in my bathroom” super expensive designer totes…but why is this bag the it bag this fall? It’s just shy of $1,800, its black, and there is (slightly boring) braid work along the rails of the bag. Hmm…I feel a slight case of fashionista …eh hmm…blue balls.

If you want to rock the same look as Mary Kate Olsen and Katy Perry, you can call YSL and put your name on the wait list. 212-980-2970.

If you are a bit more fiscally responsible (yay for you!), you can get this same hobo, black look for a fraction of the cost and then take the money you saved and fly yourself to NYC and laugh at the YSL waitlist.

BCBG Hobo Bag – Cost: $149.50
